Outfit Pinspiration

Here is an outift I pinned to pinterest awhile back.

I really liked the colors, but didn't like that shorts are not work appropriate. So here is my take on it.

eloquii

As some of you may know, The Limited has a plus size brand called eloquii.
It is a great brand that has good quality and quite a bit of fashion forward pieces. In fact, I purchased my interview suit from them (got the job) and quite a few other pieces from them as well. (Lots of pencil skirts and some cardigans).

The one thing that I think they could have done better was promoting their brand. Only a few select stores carried eloquii in them. The Castleton Mall in Indianapolis being one of them. But, their selections were limited and the part of the store that carried eloquii was about the size of a master bathroom. Not very big.

It was shocking to me to see the following message on their facebook page about a week ago.
"A Special Message to our Fans

For more than a year, eloquii has served you by delivering quality, must-have fashion in sizes that highlight your confident curves. In return, you have given us great feedback about how we can better serve you.

We look forward to offering you new fashion atwww.eloquii.com through the summer. However, after a year’s test at market, we have decided to phase out eloquii and we have begun discussions with others who have expressed an interest in the future of the brand and/or its products.

Thank you so much for your support and for your feedback as we developed and refined eloquii over the last year. We recognize that eloquii plays an important role in our fans’ lives and look forward to better serving our clients in the future."

It really saddens me about the future of this brand. I really liked the clothing. For plus size women, we don't really have a lot of choices in stores to choose from. Almost every clothing item we want we have to mail order and hope it fits. Then send it back and incur more shipping charges when it doesn't. The other clothing stores for plus size women are either made for older women (Catherine's and a lot of things at Lane Bryant) and don't really have the stylish pieces we are looking for.

I really hope that they do not close their doors. A year isn't very long to gain a lot of customers  especially when you aren't marketing very well. I hope that they change their mind and continue to provide stylish clothing for us.

Dots & Chevron

Fitbit & Getting Healthy

So, I have a goal to try and become more healthy. Double plus if I lose some weight. I've gained a lot over the past few years, about 30 lbs or so, and I wouldn't mind at all if I lost some of it. But that really isn't my goal. My goal is to become more healthy and fit.

At work, I instituted a new wellness plan. It is the Heart Alive program and our county puts it on. You can find more information here. It is a pretty cool program and lasts 6 months. During the first session, they come in and weight, measure, poke & prod you. Then, during the 2nd session, they give you your results. The next 4 sessions are learning sessions. They teach you about exercise, nutrition, eating out, etc. Then on the last session, the measure, poke & prod you again to see if you have improved any. We have about 27 out of 125 employees participating. If this first program goes well, I am hoping to do it again next year and get even more people involved.

Anyways, this weekend I picked up this little gadget. It's the Fitbit One. It's really cool and has an app that you can sync with your phone to help you keep on track. It measures your sleep, your activity, steps taken, calories burned, your food, etc. I can't wait to use it more and share the results!

For instance, last night, I slept for 9.5 hours and woke up 11 times. After a few weeks of monitoring my sleep I will be able to begin to see a pattern of why and how I wake up and maybe can try to alter it so that I sleep better.

I also rejoined a gym by where I work. I joined Planet Fitness. Last week I went twice and used the treadmill for 25 minutes one day and the arc trainer for 20 minutes the other day. I feel that by doing some cardio the first few weeks will help me ease back into a decent gym routine.

So wish me luck as I start this healthier me challenge.
